Mangalore, officially known as Mangaluru, is a historic port city on the southwestern coast of India in Karnataka, with a rich and diverse heritage shaped by centuries of trade, culture, and conquest. Its history dates back to ancient times when it was part of the Alupa dynasty, which ruled the region from the 2nd century CE to the 15th century, followed by brief periods under the Vijayanagara Empire and later the Keladi Nayakas.
